The Richmond Friends of the Homeless 2nd Annual Blanket Drive has started. RFH needs your help collecting blankets and other cold weather items. Cold weather items include, but not limited too: Hats, gloves, jackets, and various types of blankets, throws and comforters. We are looking for various sizes to fit both adult and youth, male and female.

You can drop off your blanket/items at Mooers Volvo on Broad Street (7211 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23294) or at the Mildlothian dealership located at (11960 Midlothian Tpke, Midlothian, VA 23113)

If you are unable to make a drop off at these locations, you may drop the items off at our lunch-time locations from 12 - 1 p.m. They are Broomfield CME Church - 609 Jefferson David Hwy, Richmond, VA 23224 or at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptish Church at 913 N. 1st St, Richmond, VA 23219.

If you would like to make a cash donation to the cause please send checks to: Richmond Friends of the Homeless, 5209 Hackney Rd. Richmond, VA 23234.

Let's beat last year's 300 blanket collection! The drive ends on Feb. 15. Special thanks to WRIC Channel 8 and Christina Feerick!

We are pleased that the event will be hosted again by our friends at Art Works located at 320 Hull Street Road. Door open at 6 p.m. and end at 10 p.m There will be heavy hors d'oeuvres, complimentary wine and beer, a live gift basket raffle and silent auction.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance or at the door. All proceeds do benefit the Richmond Friends of the Homeless and their mission to alleviate hunger in Richmond.

Richmond Friends of the Homeless was formed in 1986 to strengthen and enrich the community life of the underprivileged and homeless in Richmond, Virginia.

Our History

It was Thanksgiving of 1986. My freezer was stuffed with three turkeys my family had received from various businesses. I was delighted to hear a minister announce on TV that he was in desperate need of food for a Thanksgiving meal he was trying to prepare for the homeless. What a great way to get rid of those turkeys.
