Our Mission
Richmond Friends of the Homeless was formed in 1987 to strengthen and enrich the community life of the underprivileged and homeless in Richmond, Virginia.Our History
It was Thanksgiving of 1986. My freezer was stuffed with three turkeys my family had received from various businesses. I was delighted to hear a minister announce on TV that he was in desperate need of food for a Thanksgiving meal he was trying to prepare for the homeless. - Richmond Friends of the Homeless, in conjunction with Cross-Over Clinic and other volunteers, provides on site health services free of charge to those in need.
- Volunteers, doctors and nurses are available for health screenings, physicals and consultations.
- Children's back-to-school shots and individual physicals are available.
- Nutritional counseling classes and pre-natal consultations are done. Diet, exercise and prevention medicine is discussed.
